GRUGELFEST 2013 is
the second annual Hot Jazz Festival in downtown Toledo Ohio, which replaced
the Fall Dixieland Festival produced for over 20 years by the EARLYJAS Club
of Northeast Ohio. Named for the late Ralph Grugel, leader of Cleveland’s Eagle Jazz Band, Grugelfest presents 5
veteran bands (plus student performers) over 3 days, with 4 sessions: Friday
night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, and Sunday. There will be venues in the hotel and at
Toledo’s Seagate Convention Centre. World-Class jazz piano will also be
featured; on Sunday morning, a Dixieland worship service will be held at
nearby Bethel Lutheran Church.
