GRUGELFEST 2014 will be held the weekend of September 12-14 at the
Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, 101 N Summit Street in downtown Toledo. Five traditional New Orleans Jazz Bands, plus
World-Class jazz piano players, will be featured on 2 stages (the hotel
Ballroom and Lounge) over four sessions: Friday night, Saturday afternoon,
Saturday night, and Sunday. Named for
the late
Ralph Grugel,
leader of Cleveland’s Eagle
Jazz Band, GRUGELFEST has replaced the annual Fall Dixieland Festival produced for more than 20 years by the
EARLYJAS Club of Northeast
Ohio. A
Pre-Festival party will be held on Thursday night (September 11) at
YE OLDE
DURTY BIRD . . .
Downtown Toledo’s Gastropub (just around the corner from the Park Inn Hotel) with music by
Ragtime
Rick and the Chefs of Dixieland, for
those who can’t wait for the party to begin. On Sunday morning, a Dixieland Worship Service will be held at
Bethel Lutheran Church, 1853
South Avenue (just 3.5 miles from the Park Inn) featuring
The North Side Jazz Band. Everyone attending the GRUGELFEST will be
encouraged to attend, and a free shuttle
from the hotel will be provided. A chicken barbeque dinner will be held
after the service, with music provided by
Bob Seeley.
